Carl

We have been quite obsessed with a Hispanic popsicle and ice cream place here in our hometown.  It is simply AMAZING! I have had quite a few flavors now, seeing that we have been about 8 times in the past three weeks.  The past two times we have gone my hubs has said we are going fishing tonight...fishing for men. (Matt. 4:19) God has been so faithful to put two people in our path that the hubs has been able to share the gospel with.  This last time was a huge blessing.  Outside the door there was a homeless man. After we all went in to get our popsicles, Ken went back out to speak with the man.  All the while me and the kiddos had found some friends and we were inside eating and talking.  When we were done Ken came back in to share with us about Carl.  Carl was the homeless man he had met and bought some cereal and milk for.  Ken shared the gospel with Carl and Carl said that he knew Jesus.  When we were leaving Ken introduced us to Carl.  Carl asked if we could also get him some batteries, so after another trip to Dollar General and a six pack of cokes later we were telling him goodbye.  As we walked away Carl called us back to ask if we could get him a winter coat.  We said sure.  Then he asked if we could find him a cross necklace.  Honestly, I had hardly noticed the new cross necklace Caroline wore around her neck.  She had just made it that day at VBS.  After Carl asked, Caroline looked down and sweetly offered her necklace to him.  It wasn't made of gold or silver, but it was her best offering.  Something she had made that very day.  I'm pretty sure this was a Devine appointment, I'm pretty sure that she had made that necklace just for Carl.  Tears came to Carls eyes as my kids hugged this dirty homeless man.  I thought to myself, When was the last time someone hugged Carl? Carl made our day that day.  My kids taught me that we love my being unselfish and nonjudgemental.  We always need a Carl to show us love!
