She Speaks....in her Season

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance…” Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

This is what Spice looked like to go on her daddy-daughter date earlier in the week. Can you believe I let her wear this?? Good thing she had requested to go to Schnucks for her date, a local grocery store and not a five start restaurant. She choose Schnucks because of the race car buggies and Horizon Vanilla milk. Is it not nice to have simple pleasures?? This is the season of her life where the innocence is so pure, and I LOVE it. I wish she could stay like that forever. As I took the picture I could only think, this will only last for a short time. I know before long she will be on to something else, want to go somewhere else with Mr. Nice, get to the point she won’t want to go on a date with Mr. Nice, and (UGH!) go on a date with a boy.
Then I started thinking what season am I in??? Yes, I am a mother, I am a wife, but what “season” am I in with my walk with Christ? I get in a rut sometimes, feel like I am drudging through my quiet times, feel like I am not making a difference for the Kingdom, or feel like I need to do more. Then there are times when I am on fire. I would like to think more often than not, but I would be lying if I said that was the truth. So here I am trying to figure this out. I need to be praying more for God's direction in the things He wants me to do. How can I use my gifts to glorify Him? I’m not sure, but I am praying for that.
I get the Proverbs 31 Ministries daily devotional via email, and enjoy reading from the different ladies each day. I can almost ALWAYS relate to what they write in some form or fashion. So, from getting those emails and reading their blogs I had seen advertisements for She Speaks. This is a conference for women pursuing speaking and writing careers. Yeah, it looked awesome, but am I a writer? No way! I’m sure there are 500 grammatical errors in this post. Am I a speaker? No way! It makes me extremely nervous to talk in front of a large crowd, even though I am somewhat outgoing. So, I knew this was not for me. Plus, I am a mom to two young girls, and this conference is not close by.
Earlier this week as I was reading The Nesters blog I saw that Lysa TerKeurst was going to give away a scholarship to the conference and the fact that this conference was not only for writers and speakers but for those who have a heart for women’s ministry (which I do) and bloggers ( I am part of that club too)! There will even be speakers for high school girls looking to lead the next generation.
So, here I am writing this post to enter the contest. Is this my time? I would LOVE to go, learn more, and grow in THIS SEASON of MY life for the Lord. Who knows? This might help me polish my blogging skills to make my blog a better light to this world. It might grow me in knowledge to reach out to women so that they might grow closer to God. One thing I do know is that it would be one awesome blessing to get chosen for this scholarship. If I get chosen should I wear Spice's outfit??
Do you want to enter?? There is still time. Read all about it at Lysa TerKeurst's blog....HERE. You can also register and read more about the conference.....HERE.

  1. I too enter the blog scholarship contest. I did not read any of the other entries until after I had completed mine. Out of the 15 or so that I have read yours has truly inspired me. I love it. I wish I had time to read more of the contest entries, but there are so many.

I am entering a new season of my life at this time. I guess that is why your post so beautifully spoke to me. When God is your co-author you are always a writer.

    Blessings Always
