The "C" Word

The "C" word is back.

Cancer.

This time with my sweet mother-in-law.  As I sit here this morning almost 12 hours from hearing the news I still am processing it all.

Here are the details...My mother in law had not been feeling well and after some tests and scans yesterday we found out that she did indeed have pancreatic cancer.

Here is what I'm asking....Please Pray.

The Lord has been so faithful to us through these difficult "C" word moments.  With my mom, Ken's dad (who was diagnosed with bladder cancer in May).  He has shown me the unbelievable power of prayer many times (once I blogged about it).

Here is what I'm confident in....Prayer and Faith.

Prayer....Because that is what God tells us to do.  He knows exactly what is going on, but He wants us to humbly come before Him our Abba and ask!!!

1 John 5:14-15
And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

James 5:13-15
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always; pray without ceasing. in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Faith....God asks us to have faith in Him and in His will.  That is what we are completely trusting in!

Matthew 17:20
And He said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it shall move; and nothing shall be impossible to you.

My prayer for my mother-in-law is this....

That through this God will get all the glory, that others will see Christ in her as she faces this trial.  That God will lavish His peace on her. That He will comfort strengthen her through every moment of weakness or pain.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

  2. What a beautiful tribute. I have faith that, as my mother used to say, "This, too, shall pass." Suzanne is very lucky to have you in her life. Phyllis Lewellyn
